The National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS)
NICAS is designed to introduce new and young climbers to climbing on artificial climbing walls in a series of five levels of increasing technical skill and knowledge. The scheme is administered by the Association of British Climbing Walls Training Trust (ABCTT) and is endorsed by the British Mountaineering Council. The scheme provides structure and motivates new climbers to develop their skills so that they get the most out of their climbing as well and have their achievements recognised.
Aims of scheme:
to learn climbing rope-work and how to use equipment safely
to develop climbing movement skills and improve levels of ability
to develop risk assessment and management skills in the sport
to develop teamwork and trust with climbing partners
Enrolment into all N4 Climbing Clubs is per term. Fees are payable in advance as per the schedule below.
