We're re-developing the Mezz! This bouldering area will be closed until the end of the month. During this time there will be some disruption while we carry out works. This will be kept to a minimum and the majority of work will occur during our off-peak hours.

The Session & WWA

The Session is a social drop-in service offered to registered climbers at the Castle. Facilitated by our team of experienced climbers you'll always be guaranteed a belay or bouldering partner for the evening. You might even meet some people you will want to climb with in the future.

Monday-Friday: 7 to 9pm
Saturday-Sunday & Bank Holidays: 2 to 5pm

Wednesdays are specifically aimed at helping people boulder more confidently and everyone is welcome to join in.

The rest of the week’s sessions are focused on top-roping routes and only registered, competent roped climbers may sign up. We do not lead climb on the session, if you meet someone and decide to lead climb with them please ensure that you check they are competent first.

How it works:

Pay your usual entry fee and inform the receptionist that you wish to join the session, they will then guide you through the sign in process and point you in the direction of the facilitator.

* We do not run The Session or WWA over Christmas Holidays (23rd Dec to 1st Jan).

Women With Altitude

WWA is a facilitated weekly bouldering session open to all who identify as women. WWA runs alongside the mixed gender roped session on Mondays 7 to 9pm (Bank Holidays WWA will run 2-5pm).  This is a free service* available to women of all abilities who are registered members of the Castle. It’s an informal and unstructured chance to boulder with other women.

* There is no extra charge for these sessions beyond our standard wall entry fee.

The WWA sessions are hosted by experienced female climbers who are there to inspire confidence, be a central meeting point for everyone taking part, as well as to help with any climbing related queries that you may have. They are also there to encourage you to try new and different things.

Please note: these sessions are not coaching and the facilitators will not provide instruction or give coaching tips. They are there to facilitate the meeting of like-minded people to climb together.

If you're interested in learning new skills or taking your climbing to the next level, take a look at our range of coaching sessions or movement and technique clinics.
