The Learn to Lead course is designed to develop the necessary skills to lead indoors with confidence.
Adults who regularly climb French grade 5+ confidently on top rope, wishing to learn lead climbing. Participants must be able to competently belay a top rope climber.
When I started climbing, I was lucky to have instructors spend time teaching me best practice and I’m sure many of our Duty Managers that look after the safety of the centre would agree with me when I say I wish more people I see leading had taken a comprehensive course to start with. Learning to lead climb, belay, and manage potential risks is more complex than many think. Fortunately, at this point clients are committed to their climbing and that makes this also a fun course to teach too!

This is a 2-day course split into 2 x 4 hour sessions.
These sessions teach the principles of lead climbing and give you plenty of opportunity to practise. Most customers feel confident to lead climb at the Castle after this course.
