Sadly, the Rockley Wall (one of the Castle’s original walls) is no longer fit for purpose and the panels are increasingly becoming beyond repair. As a result, we have taken the decision to retire the existing wall and give it a full refurbishment.

For many years the fibreglass features have served us well, a key feature of the centre enjoyed by thousands of climbers over many years it has stood at the Castle. No doubt those “feature only” routes have seen plenty of epics!

For one month only, the Castle is offering a selection of special offers to make this autumn even more exciting!

FREE entry (including shoe and harness hire) with an Intro Course

If you've been umming and ahhing over learning the ropes (or have a potential new belay buddy you've been trying to persuade) - now is the time!

As we are all aware, the cost of living has risen significantly for individuals and businesses alike in recent months. This has led us to make the difficult decision to increase some of memberships and our Pay Per Climb single visit prices.

These changes will not come into effect until October 1st, but we wanted to give you plenty of notice of the change.

March signals the start of meteorological spring. To celebrate the Spring Equinox today, here are six activities in addition to climbing you can enjoy, only at the Castle this spring.

1. Make friends at the Social

Celebrating a return to more relaxed social climbing, now is the time to find your place in the Castle climbing community. There are so many interesting and exciting people climbing here, and so many ways to meet them.

We're very excited to welcome a new artist to exhibit in the Stairway Gallery - introducing Istvan Szabo.

Istvan is a London based painter and sculptor. He uses a broad range of materials that he often finds in his surroundings, experimenting with different materials is very important part of his practice and he believes it is one of the key elements to express in his works. Creating artworks for Istvan is a way to process and make sense of the world around him.

You may have noticed some work recently at the Castle main gate, next to the New River. It may look alarming at first glance, but this is actually part of our regeneration project to help make this space more useful and friendlier for local wildlife. Here’s a bit more about what we’re doing, how we’re doing, and most importantly, why.

With the government’s announced changes to mask wearing regulations around the country, and the fact we are definitely hitting Big Coat Weather ™, the Castle wants to reiterate our mask wearing policy in the centre.

We have a new artist to the Castle! We are delighted to welcome Amos Shammai to our Stairway Gallery.

Following the easing of restrictions, the Castle team want to give you an update about what you can expect from your favourite climbing centre over the next month or so.

The Castle will be continuing with slot booking for everyone until 1st August

That means you will need to continue with slot booking by discipline (bouldering, lead, top rope, Autobelay or the Forge) up until and including Sunday 1st of August, whether that is a pay per climb visitor or included in your Castle Access Pass. More information about Access Passes is below.
