2 sessions led by Lauren on a very sunny day in July. The children enjoyed being part of a special Castle Garden yoga adventure; encountering foxes, dogs, herons and frogs along the way, and creating beautiful art from clay.

The Castle Climbing Centre has landed the Green Thinking Award at the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s Community Sport and Recreation Awards. Sponsored by Utility Aid, the prestigious award, was presented by the Alliance’s President, HRH The Earl of Wessex at a ceremony in St James's Palace.

You may have seen our new iPads around Reception.  What's that about? Well, we're upgrading our entry system. If you have a payment plan (quarterly, six monthly, annual or Direct Debit) that expires after the 1st of July 2014 you will be able to pre-register and pick up your new membership card which will allow you to check yourself in from the 16th of June. Yes, that's right... no more waiting in queues while someone is completing their forms. You'll be able to go straight to self-check in.

The final round of Blokfest - the UK's biggest and best bouldering series- was held at The Castle on Saturday, the 15th of February. We've uploaded the highlights video onto our website. Thanks as ever to Ben Grubb for a superb job and the whole Blokfest team!

 

Sustainable Hackney has developed a Greenprint for Hackney setting out a vision of a sustainable future for Hackney.  Launched on 26 March 2014,the Greenprint provides strategic direction and a detailed workplan covering:

In 2009, the Castle pledged £6000 to Community Action Nepal (CAN) towards the development of a health outpost in Ghap, Nepal as part of our 2009 Environmental Awards.  But, we were never able to send this money as the project, following a trial, was never realised because there were too few patients to make it viable.  However, we've been keeping up with the good work that CAN are doing and we are very pleased to send them the pledged funds for the management and upkeep of the other health outposts that they are
